Mr. Garner was he a victim of a failed rear naked choke?

CNN is asking better questions today about how the death of Mr. Garner occurred over cigarettes. Why an officer felt compelled to leap onto the mans back. Attempting a choke hold maneuver that was banned from the New York Police Department.

As a laymen and studier of television and how it affects us. The answer may lye in Mixed Martial Arts.
The maneuver is called a "Rear naked Choke." It is designed to knock an opponent out if done correctly.

In reviewing the tape there appears to be a failed attempt by the officer to gain control with a poorly attempted Rear Naked choke hold. This officer was not trained well enough to perform the maneuver. Nor should any civilian be grappled to the ground so haplessly.

Police are armed with multiple equipment to subdue even the largest of foes.

All of these men were responsible for Mr. Garners death. None of them knew what to do as he lay dying. They had no medical support team next to them to provide immediate medical treatment.

Immediate re-training is helpful. Years of behaviors will not stop with one session.  The expectation that re-training police will stop the violence is not based on sound experiences.
Even with this new training, how many of these men and women will continue to verbally assault, physically threaten and eventually kill again? The public is not safe in the hands of badged personnel who are clearly in need of anger management training and more.

What are the real solutions? Great ideas can be born today to resolve tomorrows issues.
