Christmas shopping with cash

Christmas in America has become a grand theatrical event for numerous stores. Up go the prices so stores can keep a win win approach.

We tell ourselves these increases are due to popular demand. The truth is companies do not wish to loose any profits during this most prestigious of holidays.

Shopping with cash at one time was the only way to go. In the past ten years America has moved to a plastic world where there are discounts for using your credit or debit cards.

Cash became important this season for our household. When our debit card was stolen without it leaving the wallet.

To our surprise cash seems to be in limited supply in some retailers shops.

"You don;t have a credit card?" Asked one store manager and we both looked at each other with surprise. I did reply.

"That is none of your business."

At another shop when we laid a one hundred dollar bill on the counter. You might think we were bank robbers or thieves. It took two employees marking the bill with a yellow marker. Then these two employees decided to hold the bill up to a bright light for well over five minutes this process went on.
To stop this I finally said, if you think it is stolen call the police other wise our time is valuable. They ended their reproach of the bill and allowed us to purchase our items.

I can say we will never shop at either store again. I will not give these stores publicity either.

It seems that shopping with cash is now looked upon as bad for the economy.

Has anyone else had this experience using cash this year? If so feel free to post a comment.

Safe and Happy holidays to all.
